Sniff, Sniff, Sniff

What kind of dog are you?
I don't think we've ever met.
But whatever you might be
You look like you could use a vet.

Your nose isn't like a shepherd
or a poodle or a collie.
And worst of all it's hot and dry
like a bone in the Mojave.

Your fur looks rather ratty.
The wrong color for a setter.
Perhaps you are a bull dog,
But bull smells so much better.

You are canine enigma.
It's is really quite a chore.
If your hair was a bit shorter
I'd say you were a labrador.

Chorus:
Don't speak. Don't bark.
I'll discover it if
You give me a chance
to sniff, sniff, sniff.

Your father was a chow chow.
Your mother was a hound.
I'm sure that's all they told you
But my dear, I've been around.

I think I know your mother.
I should keep my mouth shut.
But, I can tell you that your mother
was emphatically a mutt!

Don't speak. Don't bark.
I'll discover it if
you give me a chance
to sniff, sniff, sniff.

Bridge:
Waooo! I think I'm getting closer.
Waooo! Just a few moments more.
Waooo! I almost have it figured.
Waooo! Don't see your breed much anymore.

Your voice is very different
than any other that I've heard.
Perhaps you're not a dog at all
but an antelope or bird.

But you don't have any antlers
and no bird has hair in curls.
My God, you are that animal
that's known as little girl.

Waooo! I knew that I would get it!
Waooo! There's no secret if...
Waooo! This nose is activated
Waooo! Just a sniff, sniff, sniff!

Sniff, sniff, sniff.
Sniff, sniff, sniff.
There's no secret I can't unfold.
As long as I don't have a cold.
